Wedding – Cake with flowers

I made this cake for one of my cousins as a wedding gift. While I was doing cake decoration course, they requested me to make their wedding cake. I was very anxious, because I never done a wedding cake course and I had no prior experience. I even never saw someone making a wedding cake.
But as I always like to learn new things by trying and experiencing, I did it with full confidence. That time I even did not know how to make fondant. I asked my teacher for help, and she gave me the recipe to make a fondant. It was a great help and I still thank her for that. Usually they give recipes to only those who participates Wedding Cake Decoration

courses. That time I was doing intermediate course, where I learnt to make 13 different types of flowers with hard icing. While I was decorating this cake, it was quite difficult as I had to learn everything from book and frequently going back to the book to check if things are going well. I’m very much thankful to family members & especially to my sister. They gave me lots of help and confidence to do this gorgeous job.

At last I was very happy with the cake. I received a lot of productive comments. And finally and most importantly, the couple was very happy with their wedding cake.

This is the first lily I made. When I took the order, I had no idea to make this type of tiger lily. But as I didn’t want to miss the order, I took it and decided to do it anyway.
I searched Internet for how the real lilies looks like. After that I search cakes with lilies, I tried to learn how to make lily petals with hard icing.
I tried it different ways to make petals an easy way. At last I got the idea by the “trial & error” or “guess & check” method. I made only two lilies at that time, and I used them to decorate this cake.

I tried to decorate the cake just as on the picture that the customer gave me. I was really astonished with this cake as the first one. The couple were happy with their wedding cake.
